The House of Sleepyhead introduces a new chapter in sleep
Every great day starts with a good night’s sleep.
For us, that belief began ten years ago in a college dorm room with a worn-out mattress and an idea to make it better.
Over the past decade, we’ve proven that comfort isn’t a luxury. It’s a foundation. From dorm rooms to first apartments, from long nights of studying to early mornings chasing dreams, the Sleepyhead topper became more than a product. It became part of growing up.
Now that story continues. The House of Sleepyhead introduces The Sleepyhead Mattress: First Edition, a new foundation for how we rest, recharge, and live.
It marks a new era for Sleepyhead, one that blends design, function, and feeling into something greater than sleep itself. Like all true originals, it carries the spirit of where we began, reimagined for today.
Crafted for comfort. Refined by experience. Our boldest step yet.

Sleepyhead Mattress: First Edition – Limited Warranty
- Warranty Overview
Sleepyhead provides the following limited warranties to the original purchaser of a new Sleepyhead Mattress: First Edition (the “Mattress”):purchased directly from Sleepyhead
- 10-Year Limited Foam Warranty – Covers defects in materials and workmanship of the foam components (the “Foam Mattress”)
- 6-Month Limited Fabric Cover Warranty – Covers manufacturing defects in the removable fabric cover (the “Fabric Cover”).
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights which vary from state to state. The warranty is non-transferable and is valid only for the period of time that the Mattress is owned by the original purchaser of the Mattress.
- Foam Mattress Warranty Coverage
Sleepyhead warrants the Foam Mattress in its original packaging sold to you against the defects in material and workmanship (“Covered Foam Defects”) set forth below for a period of ten (10) years from the original date of purchase, when the Foam Mattress is used for its intended use (“Intended Use”) and with proper structural support (“Required Structural Support”). When this Warranty applies, Sleepyhead will, at its option, repair or replace the mattress or defective foam component if it is found to be defective due to faulty materials or workmanship.
For purposes of this Foam Warranty, the following definitions apply:
- “Covered Foam Defects” means (i) foam splitting, cracking, or abnormal deterioration under normal use, (ii) Foam Mattress that fails to fully expand after unboxing after 48-72 hours, (iii) Divots or deep impressions that don’t bounce back and (iv) Foam that no longer rebounds or feels uneven over time. Normal softening of foam and comfort preference changes are not defects.
- “Intended Use” means normal household use (including dormitories) and expressly does not include commercial use (such as hotels or rental properties), use in vehicles or outdoors, or any use involving excessive abuse or modification of the product.
- “Required Structural Support” means a firm, structurally sound, and properly ventilated foundation, such as (i) Platform beds, (ii) Slatted bases with slats no more than 3 inches apart, and (iii) Adjustable bases rated for the mattress weight. Queen and larger sizes require center support. Use of an improper foundation, lack of ventilation, or placing the mattress directly on the floor may void this warranty.
The Foam Mattress Warranty does not cover the following:
- Normal wear and tear, including foam softening or changes in comfort preference over time
- Foam oxidation or discoloration, which is a natural and harmless part of how memory foam ages. Oxidation occurs when foam reacts with oxygen in the air—similar to how an apple browns after being sliced. This does not affect the performance, safety, or durability of the mattress and is not considered a defect
- Stains, burns, cuts, tears, liquid damage, or damage caused by pets or accidents
- Mold or mildew, which may occur if the mattress is exposed to moisture, not properly ventilated, or not cared for according to the provided care instructions. Maintaining a dry, well-ventilated environment is essential to prevent this type of damage
- Rips, tears, or structural damage to the foam that are not present upon delivery or caused by a manufacturing defect, including damage resulting from handling, improper setup, or daily use after unboxing
- Damage resulting from the use of third-party accessories or products, including but not limited to heating pads, electric blankets, or any external devices that alter the mattress’s intended performance, is not covered under this warranty.
- Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, improper setup, failure to follow care instructions, or purchases made through unauthorized resellers
- Fabric Cover Warranty Coverage
Sleepyhead warrants the removable Fabric Cover in its original packaging sold to you against the manufacturing defects (“Covered Fabric Defects”) set forth below for a period of six (6) months from the original date of purchase, when the Foam Mattress is used for its intended use (“Intended Use”). When this Warranty applies, Sleepyhead will, at its option, repair or replace the fabric cover if it is found to be defective due to faulty materials or workmanship.
For purposes of this Fabric Cover Warranty, the following definitions apply:
- “Covered Fabric Defects” means manufacturing defects including (i) Damage upon delivery, (ii) Faulty stitching or seams coming apart, (iii) Fabric defects, (iv) Defective zippers and (v) Stains present at delivery.
- “Intended Use” means normal household use (including dormitories) and expressly does not include commercial use (such as hotels or rental properties), use in vehicles or outdoors, or any use involving excessive abuse or modification of the product.
The Fabric Cover Warranty does not cover the following:
- Normal wear and tear, including rips and tears not present upon delivery or resulting from handling, improper setup, or daily use after unboxing
- Damage due to failure to follow care instructions, including improper washing, use of harsh chemicals (including bleach or solvents), shrinkage and pilling.
- Damage from exposure to direct sunlight or heat sources, which can cause fading or warping.
- Damage from insects or pests.
- Damage caused by third-party accessories or attachments, such as straps or fasteners, heating pads, or electric blankets.

- ARBITRATION
You and Sleepyhead, Inc. agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to this warranty, the purchase or use of the Mattress, or any related agreement will be resolved exclusively through binding arbitration, rather than in court, except as otherwise provided below. YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT, BY ENTERING INTO THESE TERMS, YOU AND SLEEPYHEAD INC ARE EACH WAIVING THE RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY OR TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION.
Nevertheless, nothing in this arbitration agreement will be deemed to waive, preclude, or otherwise limit the right of either party to:
(a) bring an individual action in small claims court, or
(b) file suit in a court of law to address an intellectual property infringement claim.
- Governing Rules and Administration
Any arbitration between you and Sleepyhead Inc will be conducted under the Federal Arbitration Act and administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) in accordance with its Consumer Arbitration Rules, as modified by this agreement. The AAA Rules are available at https://www.adr.org or by calling 1-800-778-7879. The arbitrator has exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the interpretation, applicability, or enforceability of this binding arbitration agreement.
The AAA Rules and filing forms are available online at www.adr.org, by calling the AAA at 1-800-778-7879, or by contacting Sleepyhead Inc.
- Process
Before starting arbitration, the party seeking relief must send written notice, by U.S. Mail and electronic mail (“Notice”), of the dispute to the other party, including a description of the claim and the relief sought.
U.S. Mail and electronic mail (“Notice”).
Sleepyhead Inc’s address for Notice is:

The parties will make good faith efforts to resolve the claim directly, but if the parties do not reach an agreement within 30 days after the Notice is received, you or Sleepyhead Inc may commence an arbitration proceeding.
During the arbitration, the amount of any settlement offer made by you or Sleepyhead Inc must not be disclosed to the arbitrator until after the arbitrator makes a final decision and award, if any.
The arbitration hearing will take place at a location to be agreed upon in Phoenix, Arizona. If the claim is for $15,000 or less, you may choose whether the arbitration will be conducted:
- solely on the basis of documents submitted to the arbitrator;
- through a non-appearance-based telephone hearing; or
- by an in-person hearing
- Fees
If you commence arbitration in accordance with this provision, Sleepyhead Inc will reimburse you for your payment of the filing fee, unless your claim is for more than $15,000 or is deemed frivolous (as measured by Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11(b)), in which case payment of any fees will be decided by the AAA Rules. If your claim is deemed frivolous, you also agree to reimburse Sleepyhead Inc for all monies previously disbursed by it that are otherwise your obligation to pay under the AAA Rules.
- No Class Actions
YOU AND SLEEPYHEAD USA AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
Unless both you and Sleepyhead Inc agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims and may not preside over any form of class or representative proceeding.
- Choice of Law / Venue
This Mattress Warranty will be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Arizona, excluding its conflicts-of-law rules. If the class action waiver or arbitration agreement is found unenforceable, the parties agree that any litigation will occur exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Phoenix, Arizona, and you and Sleepyhead Inc. agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction and venue therein.

Yes! In certain states, we’re required to collect a small mattress recycling fee at checkout. This fee helps support responsible recycling through the Mattress Recycling Council (MRC) and ensures that old mattresses are properly reused or recycled.
Here’s a quick breakdown by state:
California: $16 per unit — includes free take-back of your used mattress or box spring when a new one is delivered.
Connecticut: $16 per unit.
Oregon: $22.50 per unit — customers are informed of recycling options, though haul-away isn’t required.
Rhode Island: $20.50 per unit.
These fees are set by each state’s recycling program and go directly toward creating a cleaner, more sustainable sleep future.
Sleepyhead Mattress: First Edition performs best on a flat, sturdy, and breathable foundation that supports it evenly and allows airflow underneath.
It is compatible with:
- Platform beds or foundations with ventilation gaps that promote airflow and provide consistent support.
- Slatted frames with slats spaced no more than 3" apart to prevent sagging and maintain comfort.
- Adjustable bases with open-grid or slatted decks that allow air to circulate around and beneath the base.
For use with a traditional box spring, add a slatted bunkie board or ventilated platform on top for proper support and airflow.
Avoid placing your mattress directly on the floor or on a completely solid surface that blocks airflow.
For queen and larger sizes, use a frame with a center support beam or leg to prevent sagging and extend the life of your mattress.
